The design intent for Oak Lanes was to create a dynamic, modern architectural response to the 50×180 foot lot size typically found in South Oak Bay. To achieve this, the driving principle was to maximize the interaction between the house and the site to foster a more seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Taking full advantage of its westcoast-modern aesthetic, two slender offset volumes naturally echo the linearity of the site and are united by a strong vertical stair-tower element that serves both to anchor the structure to the earth, and screen the more private outdoor living spaces beyond. Featuring professional appliances, in-floor heat and an efficient high-end heat pump, a two-bedroom guest suite, high-end fireplaces, high-end exterior cladding, this home is built to last.
